Kangaroos, Koalas and Dingos...OH MY!

On Saturday we drove out to Caversham Wildlife Park to spend the day getting to know some of Australia's native wildlife.  We had a bbq in the park before heading in to see all of the furry, cute, and adorable (okay, a few were a bit yucky and scary looking) animals.  Needless to say, I have fallen in love with kangaroos and I plan on purchasing one of my very own to take back to Texas.  Journey needs a sister anyway.  Here are some pictures from our very adventurous day!  I've also posted some video links on the side of my blog too!

Yikes!  Who knew so many different types of animals could cross?!

The men - as usual, ready for some burgers!

James turned out to be quite the international chef this week - he made Indian curry (we're trying to broaden Tyson's food horizon) for us on Wednesday night, and he perfected the art of American burgers today in the park.

I think Tyson was happy to see burgers and not Chicken Tikka! :)

Tess - I can't wait for you to come and play here!  You're going to love it!

After a tasty lunch we were off to see the animals!

And James found the first one!

He lied to me.  This is not an animal, James.

The first set of furry friends we came across were these cute wallabies - they look very similar to kangaroos!

Tyson and James were gently trying to entice them to come over to us...but despite their hard efforts, the wallabies weren't fooled by them.

Scary fruit bat!

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop, Mr. Owl?!

Finally!  We made it to our first sighting of a kangaroo!!  Sort of...this was an albino one!

The park has an open enclosure full of kangaroos that you can feed and pet and love!  They come right up to you!  This one was very lazy and made us walk over to him.

Again, Crocodile T-man working his hardest to entice the kangaroos.

Success!  This was a hungry little fella'!

The boys really like this tiny guy!

They nibble the food straight from your hand!

You can see the pure delight on James's face because this one finally ate from his hand!

This is the very weird looking back foot of a kangaroo.

And this is the precious friend I fell in love with!  Journey - I still love you so much.  I'm bringing you back a fun new sister that will hop around and play with you!

How could you not just love her?!

These were the BIG kangaroos just lazin' away in the shade.  I wanted to see them jump so badly - but they must've been too tired.

Tman sharing a pretend cigarette with the llama.  He really has a way with animals.

We even fed the pigs!  This one, which I named Babe, wanted to eat the camera.

He looked so sad when I didn't let him eat it.

This is something that we've not yet done even in Texas.  T and I had to come all the way to Australia to feed cows together!

James Buckwell wants to own a cow of his very own someday.  James had never fed one up until this day.  He begrudgingly decided to give it a try.  Judging by the look on his face, his cow will feel rather unloved.

It almost looks like I'm feeding a much larger version of Journey!

I wish we could eat you for Thanksgiving this year, Mr. Butterball.

My Little Pony!

Maybe the dingo ate your baby?!

I never knew that dingoes look just like dogs!  Apparently they are not near as friendly as your average lab though!

FINALLY - the fake koala gets to meet a REAL ONE!  (For those that don't know, my school mascot is a Koala)

They are SO cute and also very sleepy!  They do though have claws that look like they could rip your face off.

When a koala is born, they are no bigger than a peanut!! (That's for you sweet Brittany!!)

This was such a fun day filled with Aussie Animals and I can't wait to go back!

What an incredible experience! Did you get to pet the koala or did those claws deter you??

This is what your viewers have been waiting for...pure, savage animals in their natural habitat down under. It was awesome how you got to interact with such exotic animals like cows, owls, bats, turkeys, chickens, and pigs. I also like the dogs (did the Dingo eat your baby?---as an aside, Tyson, weren't you going to name your fantasy football team that?). The kangaroo and koala bear are run of the mill around Houston, so that didn't impress me as much. By the way...for the sake of your viewers, who are all these people who keep showing up in your blog pictures. We need a character list to keep up with this show!
